I'm afraid under 0.8.0, the easiest way is to use an image node and a  
one-pixel png file.

We have a bunch of vector graphics nodes in svn, including  
rectangles :-).

There's no formal bounty system, but I'm open to suggestions. I'd  
plead for something with as little overhead as possible :-). Google  
Summer of Code would have been great, but this year's application  
period is over, I'm afraid.

It should also be possible to find a freelancer to do the work. Feel  
free to ask on the list when you've got things lined up.
